Enviroguide Consulting has a requirement for an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our expanding team and cater to the continued growing demand for our services. We are currently providing services to the public and private sectors including to pharmaceutical, EPA licenced, technological, property development, construction and waste industries. This presents an opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dynamic team of environmental professionals who are specialists in their fields and who work in a collaborative, team environment to provide the highest quality services to our clients.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a positive attitude, an ability to motivate others and a demonstrated willingness to learn and keep up to date with changing legislation and industry trends and developments. The role will include the following responsibilities:
The successful candidate will lead the ecology team providing baseline ecological survey data, prepare such plans and undertake such ecological surveys and research as may be required as part of the company’s ecology and biodiversity services.

The Role:

This role will be based in our office in Parkwest, Dublin 12.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

• Preparation and peer review of EIAR documents and general environmental technical assessments for major infrastructural /commercial / residential developments;
• Act as Lead Consultant on Strategic Environmental Assessment projects
• Carry out, oversee and manage ecological surveys
• Mentor and train other ecologists
• Review and manage appropriate assessment screening for the purpose of the requirements of the Habitats Directive and advise clients with respect to their obligations under the Habitats Directive and other relevant ecological and environmental legislation;
• Preparation and peer review of Natura Impact Statements
• Provide high level, expert reports on species, biodiversity and conservation management
• Provide advice to clients on large and small scale planning applications
• Attend client project meetings and act as main point of contact with clients
• Update and maintain an ecology projects database and reporting structure
• Proactively participate in the preparation of weekly updates and status reports, time management reporting, and the recording and reporting of key performance indicators;
• All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public
• Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s objectives.

Candidate Specification:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:

• Level 8+ qualification in ecology or related scientific subject or equivalent;
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in a similar role with comparable responsibility;
• Experience in the Irish planning and development process
• Proficiency in the conduct of ecological field surveys;
• Experience in Appropriate Assessment;
• Excellent report writing and communication skills;
• Proficiency in the use of GIS desirable;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, the use of spreadsheets and databases.
• High level of attention to detail and quality focused
• An ability to build relationships with stakeholders and convey clear and concise information both written and verbal to colleagues, clients and third parties and
• Full driving licence as travel is a prerequisite for the role.

You will be expected to prepare written and technical reports, undertake environmental surveys as required on projects and provide Environmental Clerk of Work and Environmental Advisory services as required. You will also mentor and manage more junior staff and support the senior team on ecological issues in relation to various projects.
