Due to the success and growth of the Environment Department, our portfolio of projects in Ireland and the UK has increased greatly. Nicholas O’Dwyer Ltd. wish to capitalise on this success and build on our ambition by expanding our Dublin based Team.

We are currently seeking a highly experienced, enthusiastic and competent Senior Environmental Consultant/Planner with at least 6 years post graduate consultancy/public sector experience to join our Environmental Team. The successful applicant will be working as an integral member of our Environmental Team, based in our Dublin office and will support the expansion of our ecological and environmental services in Ireland and the UK.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will, amongst other things, be responsible for:

  • Project management and coordination of projects;
  • Production of Environmental Impact Assessment reports (EIAR), Strategic Environment Assessments (SEA), Planning Reports and other environmental reports as may be assigned;
  • Project management and coordination of planning applications (LA and SID);
  • Consultation and liaison with statutory and non-statutory bodies, local authorities, government agencies and An Bord Pleanála (ABP);
  • Organisation and management of sub-consultants and sub-contractors contributing to projects;
  • Assisting in the preparation of tender submissions;
  • Developing excellent relationships with clients and attending meetings with clients and design teams when necessary;
  • Assisting in developing new business and work streams for the company based on your own particular skills and contacts.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

We are looking for a Candidate with the following knowledge, experience and attributes:

  • A postgraduate degree in environmental science, planning or related discipline;
  • A minimum of 6 years relevant work experience in environmental and planning consultancy
  • Full memberships to a relevant professional body;
  • Experience in the areas of Environmental Impact Assessment and planning applications;
  • Experience in the preparation of planning documentation for the Compulsory Purchase Order process (not essential);
  • Experience in the area of Strategic Environmental Assessment;
  • Detailed knowledge of environmental and planning legislation;
  • Knowledge of wildlife and conservation legislation, within Ireland, including the Habitats Directive and Wildlife Acts;
  • Excellent report writing skills;
  • Ability to interpret environmental reports and data;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills;
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude, willing and able to motivate others;
  • A self-motivated, pragmatic, solution driven and flexible approach with a willingness to actively participate as part of a wider multidisciplinary team;
  • A full clean driver’s licence.
